The Technical Service Representative provides technical support to automotive customers, addressing application questions, troubleshooting issues, and managing project‑support activities.
Role Responsibilities- Support and service automotive customers and prospective customers with technical application questions and problems.
- Project‑supporting technical assessment of performance systems and application‑technological project management.
- Technical customer support for implementation of new products and monitoring technical trends.
- Manage testing for marketability of new applications and application systems.
- Conduct competitive research, evaluate results, and present new products and advantages to customers based on their processes and requirements.
- Identify customer needs and market opportunities to expand business; adjust products accordingly.
- Develop, conduct, and document application‑technological trials; consult customers on equipment.
- Test application parameters of new product developments, optimize in cooperation with the laboratory.
- Organize workshops with colleagues and customers; develop application recommendations internally and externally.
- Document internal processes (ATA reports, sample orders).
- Analyze and resolve application problems and complaints.
- Define application windows; instruct customer painters and application engineers on techniques and pretreatment methods.
- Ensure travel planning, compliance with policies, and flexibility to perform additional duties as needed.
- Professional level Chinese language skills (preferred).
- Complete hazardous waste training within 6 months of hire and annually thereafter, in compliance with South Carolina regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers.
- Intermediate knowledge of installations, technical systems, and application techniques (nozzles, piston pump, double diaphragm pumps).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and provide exemplary customer service.
- Travel both domestically and internationally, including to destinations requiring vaccination proof.
- Work independently and complete assignments per instructions, routines, and standard practices.
- Perform essential job functions safely, maintaining attendance per ADA, FMLA and local standards.
- Frequent walking, standing, heavy lifting, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Mix paints, use sprayers and other equipment efficiently.
- Exposure to fumes and hazardous chemicals.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; stand up to 8 hours/day.
- Communicate clearly on the telephone.
