Insurance Defense Attorney

Job Description

Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith P.C. is looking to hire an insurance defense attorney for the Litigation Practice Group to work in our Southfield office. This position is eligible for a hybrid work policy after training.

• Managing files
• Draft pleadings, motions, responses and legal correspondence
• Handle all aspects of discovery including taking depositions as well as drafting and responding to interrogatories and requests to produce
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including motion hearings, mediations, settlement conference, trials, and evidentiary hearings
• Work closely with clients including writing regular status reports and communicating complex information (written and oral) to stakeholders in an accessible way
• Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff

• 3+ years litigation experience including drafting pleadings, motion practice, depositions, and case management
• JD from an accredited law school
• Admitted to State Bar of Michigan and be in good standing
• Excellent persuasive writing, legal research, communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent professional judgment, analytical, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Strong work ethic with record of being proactive and resourceful
