Our firm has been engaged by a Tier One automotive supplier to identify and secure a new Supply Chain Director. Our client is a multinational automotive component manufacturer, and the company has more than 2,600 employees, generating $2B+ in revenue operating facilities throughout the world. The location for this hybrid role is in the Farmington Hills / Southfield, Michigan area and does not require periodic travel to plants, key suppliers and customers.
The successful candidate will inherit a solid team, and will be globally responsible for approximately $380+ million of spend. You must be a leader and have 10+ years of supply chain team supervision and manufacturing supply chain experience, ideally with complex bills of material. We need a tech savvy individual with previous ERP integration, and systems deployment experience, and it is 100% mandatory that you have been heavily involved in quotation and business development.

- Negotiate business agreements with qualified suppliers. Leverage company spend to ensure cost reduction and non-cost objectives are achieved. Establish, manage, and maintain effective supplier relationships.
- Oversight of Purchasing and Commodity Managers as they identify and establish suppliers that will manufacture and deliver component parts, spare parts, sub-assemblies into the supply chain on time.
- Establish procedures for proper control of inventory, including ongoing oversight to ensure compliance.
- Oversee standardization of processes and procedures, transaction methods with suppliers, supplier selection processes, ongoing supplier management, data collection, negotiation, performance improvement, cost reduction and communication strategies.
- Develop a comprehensive domestic and international sourcing strategy, in-line with the overall business plan.
- Establish and meet annual targets / KPIs for cost reduction and inventory reduction.
- Ensure all selected suppliers have process capability to meet all part / product specifications, quality metrics, cost targets, required delivery, dates, etc.
- Work cross-functionally within the company to ensure all stakeholder requirements are accounted for and met. Communicate frequently and openly with all stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, finance, or relevant technical field, etc. with an MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation & development, etc. with 8+ years of leadership or management experience.
- Systems and program literacy in various programs such as Excel / Power Point / Word, and an ERP champion in Supply Chain / Purchasing.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing, and potentially aerospace, heavy equipment or defense or consumer electronics.
