ScopeThe Painter is a member of the X‑Cel Industries Team. They spray a wide variety of parts with different coatings to produce a specific finish. This position involves responsibilities in four key areas:
Paint/Quality, Safety, Production, and Housekeeping.
The Painter position is the vital part of the Paint Department. Strong relationships exist with both the Quality Assurance and Production departments by communicating results from the process constantly. As a team member, this position is expected to fully cooperate with any other member for the mutual benefit of the company or our customers, including activities that may not be included directly in this Job Description.
Key Responsibilities- Safety:
- Meet all operating safety rules in accordance with X‑Cel and local safety regulations.
- Safely handle and process materials including raw, processed chemicals, and hazardous waste.
- No loose clothing, hair, or jewelry.
- No smoking except in designated areas.
- Cell phones are not to be used in the facility unless in the break area.
- Report all accidents to your Supervisor promptly.
- Ensure proper storage, transport and handling of paints and chemicals.
- Paint/Quality:
- Understand all ISO/IATF, Customer & X‑Cel quality standards, the Quality Policy Statement, and definitions of surface classes (A–D).
- Procure work orders, process parameter sheets, paint, and parts.
- Relay any nonconformances to your Manager/Supervisor.
- Complete required documents accurately and timely.
- Assist in training new painters.
- Assist paint mixer as needed.
- Troubleshoot and correct paint‑related defects.
- Submit a QAS to improve areas or suggest changes.
- Operate spray‑booth paint application equipment (robots, paint mix, PLC controls, etc.) and verify their operation and functionality.
- Production:
- Be a reliable team member – performance affects others.
- Be at your workstation at all times to ensure 100% efficiency.
- Paint per work instructions, process parameter, and Supervisor direction.
- Housekeeping:
- Keep your workstation, paint booth, and paint equipment clean.
- Help clean other plant areas as requested.
- Clean up after yourself during breaks (cans, bottles, wrappers, etc.).

- Wet Inspection
- Annual hazardous waste training per Resource Conservation & Recovery Act (RCRA)
- High school diploma or GED.
- A commitment to pursue the above.
- Previous experience is a plus.
