Description
Work Schedule:
Part-time position, Thursday and Friday 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, weekends 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. Possible split shift weekends and holidays. Rangers will be assigned to all parks throughout the city.
Representative Job Duties
- Responsible for opening and closing parks. Patrol parks by vehicle and foot and provide security for all City Park trails.
- Set-up and take down tables, chairs and displays, and perform light maintenance and cleaning.
- Provide information to park users, enforce park rules and clean loose trash and overflowing garbage cans.
- Serve as a source of information to park and recreation facility visitors.
- Strives to ensure the safety of each and every park and recreation facility for visitors.
- Maintains communication and report problems in the parks immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Enforce city ordinances and recreation department policies and procedures as required in the parks.
- Completes reports as required such as daily logs, vehicle safety checks, incident and accident reports, and other necessary documentation and reports.
- Acts as a liaison between the department and users of the parks and recreation facilities.
- May be asked to perform other duties related to the day-to-day operation of the department.
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record to drive a city vehicle to and from all parks.
- Must also be able to operate a golf cart and do extensive walking over all types of terrain, in all types of weather.
- Ability to communicate via cell phone.
