Position Overview

Police Cadet - Southfield Police Department

Salary: $20.00 per hour

Hours:

7am-3pm (40 hours per week)

Training & Benefits

Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative tasks and other duties not requiring full Police powers, such as parking enforcement and jail security.
  • Familiarize yourself with and abide by all departmental rules and policies, City ordinances, and State and Federal laws.
Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship and at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Meet MCOLES Employment Standards.
  • Perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation, including operation of motor vehicles and other equipment.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • No felony convictions and no record of serious misdemeanor convictions.
  • Preferential consideration for candidates pursuing an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement or related field.
Selection Process

The selection process includes application review, driving record and criminal history check, written examination, oral board interview, level 4 background investigation, psychological evaluation, and physical exam.

Successful candidates will be notified by email for orientation and testing.

Names of successful candidates remain eligible for consideration for one year from placement on the eligibility list.
