The Target Security Specialist is a full-time, on‑site role based in Southfield, MI, focused on supporting a safe and secure environment for guests and team members. This role typically includes monitoring store areas and security systems, identifying and deterring theft and safety risks, and responding to incidents in a calm, professional manner. The specialist works closely with store leadership and other team members to enforce safety and security procedures, conduct investigations, and complete accurate incident documentation.
Daily responsibilities may also include assisting with emergency response, supporting compliance with company policies and local regulations, and providing visible, courteous presence to promote guest and team member confidence. The role involves regular interaction with guests, use of technology and reporting tools, and adherence to Target’s standards of integrity and respect.
- Experience or strong interest in security, loss prevention, or safety operations, including monitoring environments and responding to incidents.
- Skills in observation, situational awareness, and problem‑solving to identify risks and take appropriate action.
- Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with guests, team members, and, when necessary, local authorities.
- Ability to follow and apply policies, procedures, and legal requirements, with attention to detail and accurate documentation.
- Capacity to remain calm under pressure, use sound judgment, and manage confidential information responsibly.
- Comfort working on‑site, standing or walking for extended periods, and performing tasks that may require physical activity.
- Prior retail, customer service, or security experience is beneficial; familiarity with security systems or surveillance tools is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in security, safety, or law enforcement is advantageous.
