Field Service Specialist – Paint Shop & Final Assembly
As a customer-facing Field Service Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in supporting some of North America’s most advanced automotive paint shops and final assembly facilities. You’ll be the trusted technical expert customers rely on to keep production running efficiently while identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability.
In This Role, You Will- Provide hands‑on technical support, troubleshooting, and field service for Dürr paint shop and final assembly equipment.
- Perform equipment start‑up, commissioning, testing, and system optimization at customer facilities.
- Respond to emergency service requests and provide remote technical support when needed.
- Develop and support aftermarket proposals for equipment upgrades, modifications, and refurbishment projects.
- Partner with customers to identify opportunities that improve equipment reliability, productivity, and long‑term performance.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors during equipment installations and service activities.
- Manage spare parts recommendations, emergency deliveries, and equipment health assessments.
- Prepare service documentation and reports to support customers and internal stakeholders.
- Travel approximately 50% throughout the United States and Canada.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, building customer relationships, and making a direct impact on manufacturing operations. You’ll be successful in this role if you have:
- 5+ years of experience in field service, commissioning, maintenance, or technical support.
- Strong knowledge of automotive or aerospace paint shop and/or final assembly manufacturing systems.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial automation, capital equipment, or manufacturing systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer‑first mindset.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Strong mechanical and technical problem‑solving abilities.
- Experience coordinating contractors and managing field service activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- SAP experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of Dürr equipment, installations, and spare parts is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to travel approximately 50% and work overtime, weekends, or holidays when customer needs require.
