Education:

High school diploma or equivalency required, two years of college preferred.

Experience:

Work experience with individuals with developmental, emotional and/or physical impairments preferred. Individuals who are fluent in American Sign Language are a plus. Skills sufficient to work at community sites with considerable independence and to exercise reasonable judgment in handling challenges until supervisory backup is provided. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with participants, employers, public and staff. Composition skills sufficient to prepare required reports.

Transportation available to get to community work sites.

• Supervise participants on the job to ensure that independent, good quality and productive work is being completed.
• Provide support to participants to ensure appropriate behaviors are being demonstrated during the work shift and break times.
• As necessary, modify training techniques, tasks and/or the work environment to accommodate various participants’ needs.
• Supervise participants and facilitate the development/refinement of interpersonal skills during lunch, breaks and transitional periods.
• Provide regular and systematic feedback to participants regarding their work performance.
• In order to ensure that participants safety is maintained, exercise reasonable judgment and successfully manage challenges with participants until supervisory guidance is provided.

Environmental conditions:

• Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
• Ability to work in a confined area.
• Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

Physical requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
• Light to moderate lifting in required.

This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
