Senior Localization Algorithm Engineer
Job Description
This role focuses on designing, developing, and refining advanced PC-based localization algorithms that operate within real-time systems. You will lead the creation of probabilistic and sensor fusion techniques to achieve highly accurate position tracking, validate your work through rigorous simulations, and collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams. This is an opportunity to shape next-generation localization solutions and help advance technologies with impact far beyond the automotive industry.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and refine PC-based localization algorithms using particle filters and other probabilistic techniques for real-time operating systems.
+ Implement sensor fusion strategies that integrate data from IMUs, wireless signals, RF measurements, and other external sources to enhance position accuracy.
+ Design and execute simulations to test and validate localization algorithms under diverse real-world conditions, including multipath, noise, and varying environments.
+ Leverage Python, C++, C#, or MATLAB to prototype, evaluate, and optimize algorithms prior to integration into production software.
+ Conduct thorough performance evaluations of localization algorithms to identify bottlenecks and implement data-driven optimizations.
+ Collaborate closely with embedded, FPGA, RF, and systems engineering teams to improve the performance and robustness of the location tracking system.
+ Stay current with academic and industry research in probabilistic localization, sensor fusion, and state estimation, and apply relevant findings to product development.
+ Rapidly prototype novel concepts and iterate on algorithm designs to achieve production-level stability, robustness, and scalability.
+ Work cross-functionally with software, hardware, and systems engineers to integrate localization algorithms into larger, complex systems.
+ Contribute to code reviews, knowledge sharing sessions, and team brainstorming activities to maintain a high level of technical excellence.
+ Use data analytics and simulation tools to diagnose issues, validate assumptions, and refine algorithmic approaches throughout the development lifecycle.
+ Take ownership of open-ended technical challenges, driving tasks from concept through implementation and validation while continuously learning and improving.
Essential Skills
+ 10+ years of experience developing localization algorithms for real-time operating systems (RTOS).
+ Strong background in state estimation, probability theory, and advanced filtering techniques such as particle filters and related probabilistic filters.
+ Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages for algorithm development and evaluation in a PC-based environment:
Python, C#, C++, or MATLAB.
+ Proven experience designing and implementing sensor fusion algorithms that combine data from IMUs, wireless signals, RF sources, and other sensors.
+ Hands-on expertise with algorithm development for challenging RF environments, including multipath and noisy conditions.
+ Ability to design, run, and interpret simulations to validate localization and state estimation algorithms.
+ Demonstrated skill in using data analytics to diagnose issues, validate assumptions, and optimize algorithm performance.
+ Comfort working within multi-disciplinary R&D teams, collaborating across software, hardware, embedded, FPGA, RF, and systems engineering disciplines.
+ Strong problem-solving abilities and a track record of taking ownership of complex, open-ended technical challenges.
+ Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and contribute constructively to code reviews and technical discussions.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+
Experience with real-time operating systems and their constraints on algorithm design and implementation.
+ Familiarity with I/Q data processing and RF signal characteristics in the context of localization and tracking.
+
Experience with sensor fusion frameworks and state estimation methods beyond particle filters, such as other probabilistic and filtering approaches.
+ background in research-oriented environments or R&D teams where rapid prototyping and iteration are common.
+ Demonstrated passion for exploring new ideas, adapting cutting-edge research, and creatively applying it to solve challenging localization problems.
+ Enthusiasm for continuous learning, staying informed about advances in probabilistic localization, sensor fusion, and state estimation.
+ Ability to bridge gaps between software, hardware, and systems-level design to deliver integrated localization solutions.
+ Strong collaboration skills and enjoyment of working in small, focused teams of highly skilled engineers.
Work Environment
You will work as part of a focused team of approximately 5-10 engineers within a fast-paced, problem-solving R&D environment. The culture emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, with frequent interaction among software, hardware,…
