Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN), Pre-Op/Post-Op- PRN
Company: Southgate Surgery Center
Location: Southgate, MI 48195

Hours: PRN – you must be available to work 2‑4 days per week. The center is open Monday‑Friday 6am‑4pm. Shifts will vary but fall within those hours; occasional earlier or later times may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct patient care in an individual operating room.
  • Ensure proper techniques and practices are used in accordance with accepted standards.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations; be knowledgeable of patient rights.
  • Perform duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of the RN license as defined by the State.
  • Supervise other personnel in the room and assist as necessary.
  • Immediately report any unusual occurrences to charge personnel and document appropriately.
  • Demonstrate primary nursing accountability through coordination, communication and continuity of patient care.
  • Assess, prioritize, plan and implement patient care effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and legible medical records.
  • Participate in continuing education/in‑service training, staff meetings, and the Q.A.P.I. program.
  • Follow physician orders and directions from management.
  • Actively participate in development of a healthy work environment.
  • Assist in training new staff when needed.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Recognize each department’s significance and work appropriately with other departments.
Qualifications
  • Ability to assess, prioritize, plan and implement patient care effectively.
  • Respond to emergent situations.
  • Demonstrate a positive, friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and other staff.
  • Work well within a team.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Be organized; manage time effectively and cost‑effectively.
  • Work independently and within a group.
  • Arrive to work area on time; minimal absences; observe assigned schedules.
Education & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (required).
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • One year of prior nursing experience in at least one of the following settings preferred: surgical, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), Pre/Post‑Op, PACU, ICU, medical surgical, telemetry or operating room.
Licenses & Credentials
  • Current RN license in the state where the worksite is located (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
Systems & Technology
  • Knowledge of AMKAI Office and AMKAI Charts Database software.
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Experience with printer, copier, telephone and fax.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), standing (50%); regular bending, stooping, reaching (25–50%).
  • Can lift, carry, push, pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Strong fine‑motor skills; full use of hands for grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology.
  • Excellent visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus (100% of the time).
  • Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.
