Yarde Metals is seeking an experienced Controller to join our corporate office in Southington, CT. This role is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day leadership of all accounting and financial operations, including general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and credit/collections. The Controller ensures financial integrity through accurate reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with all regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
- Lead daily financial operations and ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all processes.
- Produce timely, accurate, and compliant records of transactions by implementing appropriate internal controls, policies, procedures, and audits across all departments for leadership and the parent company.
- Manage and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
- Direct month-end close activities, including reconciliations, allocations, and reporting.
- Create accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial records to our Parent company and management team.
- Develop and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to support business decisions related to sales, operations, and expenses.
- Partner with executive leadership in sales, operations, and purchasing to evaluate performance and drive business outcomes.
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
- Collaborate with IT to optimize ERP systems and resolve system-related issues.
- Lead audit preparation and support internal and external audit processes.
- Oversee lease accounting and compliance for real property and equipment leases.
- Support capital expenditure (Cap Ex) planning and financial analysis.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Recruit, develop, and lead accounting staff, including performance management and coaching.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience as an accounting lead, manager, or controller.
- Experience in manufacturing or metals service industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience managing a team of 4 or more.
- Advanced Excel and quantitative analysis skills.
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
