Equipment Operator II - 1st Shift
An Equipment Operator II is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of moderately complex automated assembly machines. This individual will ensure the continued operation of assembly machines through interpretation of and appropriate response to machine faults and through occasional alignment of stations and fixtures. This individual will perform moderately complex, repetitive tasks associated with machine operation and is expected to endure a moderate level of equipment attentiveness.
The operator is also responsible for ensuring that medical devices are assembled with the highest quality possible.
Essential duties and responsibilities include performing start-up operations from power off/cold state; completing equipment and product paperwork, such as traceability and start-up checklist. Conducting Level I required preventive maintenance tasks. Participating in changeovers to include line clearance, system transactions, and associated documentation. Performing work order set ups in electronic batch record, data acquisition and inventory management systems. Pulling test samples for QC in process inspection, removing completed production from machine and placing in finished goods totes.
Filling component hoppers/bowls as required to maintain production. Performing minor troubleshooting to diagnose machine performance issues; escalating to assigned technician when required to ensure resolution. Performing line clearance activities and returning equipment to proper operation. Updating hourly production boards with production and efficiency numbers; noting issues that prevented goal attainment (downtime, waste, quality, etc.). Submitting machine repair tags to identify issues requiring support services.
Ensuring that product not meeting quality specifications is processed under non-conformance procedures/requirements. Maintaining 5S standards in assigned work areas. Modeling company values and supporting strategic initiatives. Performing other related duties as assigned or required. This position is required to assure compliance of company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).
Engaging others; promoting and participating in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.
Knowledge and skills include good verbal and written communication skills. Read, write, understand and communicate in English. Understanding of and ability to use computers. Sound judgment for use in machine troubleshooting and product disposition. Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication at various levels and areas within the organization. Must accurately follow both verbal and written instructions.
Minimum qualifications, education and experience include being at least 18 years of age. High school diploma, or GED with 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred; or technical certificate with associated relevant experience.
Work environment involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals. Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs. Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body.
Concentrated visual attention to perform checks on products and components. Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
