N5B Capital is a single-family office that manages the investments and assets of Goosehead Insurance founders, Mark and Robyn Jones, and their family. N5B is focused on making high-quality investments with trusted partners. We currently have investments in a wide range of asset classes, including financial services, private equity, media, consumer services, healthcare, legal tech, biotech, commercial real estate (office, industrial, and hospitality), timberland, cattle ranching, and venture capital.
N5B Capital is looking for a candidate with strong financial acumen, sharp attention to detail, and a natural inclination toward problem-solving. The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to support the Controller with day-to-day accounting work across our holdings, including but not limited to bill pay, cash management, reconciliations, and month-end close. This is a hands-on role with direct mentorship and a clear path to take on broader responsibility over time.
Duties & Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:- Process and manage accounts payable, including bill pay and vendor relationships
- Handle day-to-day cash management, including monitoring account balances and cash needs
- Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Support month-end close, including journal entries and account analysis
- Review monthly accounting transactions and financial statements across multiple entities with a focus on standardized, disciplined processes
- Maintain accurate, organized financial records across entities
- Flag discrepancies, suggest process improvements, and take ownership of recurring tasks
- Take on expanding responsibilities as you learn our systems, entities, and processes
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
- 1 to 3 years of experience in an accounting role involving full-cycle accounting such as accounts payable, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Comfortable working in Quick Books or a similar accounting system; proficient in Excel
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills and a track record of accurate, timely work under deadlines
- Self-starter who takes initiative to identify areas to create value
- Critical thinker and problem solver with the ability to interpret data into business decisions
- Ability to use discretion with sensitive information
- Eager to learn and takes direction well
- Interest in growing into more advanced accounting responsibilities over time
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- On-site in the Southlake office five days a week; business casual attire.
