WhatYou Will Be Doing
The Construction Inspector ensures that Public Works construction projects meet standards and specifications in accordance with the approved plans, project manual, and safety standards. This is accomplished by inspecting work quality and materials used in a variety of Public Works projects, including the construction, repair, maintenance, and/or alteration of streets, sidewalks, drainage facilities, underground utilities, and related structures; ensuring conformance with city-standard specifications and safety standards;
and maintaining records and reports on inspected projects. Other duties include performing a variety of technical tasks relative to the Public Works Department and assisting other departments as necessary.

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. College, vocational, business, technical, or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training up to and including a two‑year associate's degree. - Experience
