Technical Program Manager

Akkodis is seeking a Technical Program Manager for a Contract with a client in Southlake, TX/Phoenix, AZ. This role requires deep technical program management expertise with a strong foundation in Java-based engineering and modern Dev Ops practices.

$75/hour to $80/hour;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

• Drive end‑to‑end planning and execution of complex, cross‑functional software development programs, ensuring predictable timelines, risk mitigation, and high‑quality delivery.

• Partner directly with engineering teams to understand system architecture and integration points, guiding decisions based on deep Java engineering and distributed systems knowledge.

• Manage technical dependencies, cross‑service integrations, and environment readiness while proactively identifying and resolving architectural and delivery risks.

• Collaborate with Dev Ops and platform engineering teams to strengthen CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, observability, and overall engineering workflow maturity.

• Establish program dashboards, KPIs, communication mechanisms, and visibility for leadership, ensuring alignment across engineering, product, business, security, and operations stakeholders.

• Champion engineering excellence by mentoring teams on execution best practices, fostering a culture of technical clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Candidates will be evaluated through a Java coding and technical interview to assess hands‑on Java expertise. We seek solid technical experience in this area.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field (master’s preferred or equivalent experience).

• 8+ years of project/program management experience leading large‑scale, cross‑functional software initiatives within engineering organizations.

• Strong technical background with hands‑on experience in Java‑based software development, distributed systems, microservices, and modern Dev Ops practices (CI/CD, automation, cloud).

• Proven ability to manage complex engineering programs end‑to‑end—driving architectural alignment, managing dependencies and integration challenges, and coordinating across multiple engineering and business stakeholders.
