Project Manager
The Project Manager is a key driver of success at GMI, responsible for leading assigned projects from turnover through closeout. This role oversees the day-to-day management of construction operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with contract requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership, financial accountability, technical expertise, and customer relationship skills to protect profitability while maintaining the highest level of quality and client satisfaction.
WhatYou'll Do
- Manage the full lifecycle of assigned construction projects, including setup, buyout, execution, billing, and closeout.
- Lead project turnover and kickoff meetings to align field teams with scope, budget, schedule, and production goals.
- Develop and manage project budgets, track percent complete, monitor labor and material performance, and protect overall profitability.
- Review contracts and approve purchase orders, change orders, and subcontractor invoices.
- Prepare Schedule of Values (SOV), monthly billings, change orders, and required financial reporting.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material resources to ensure efficient project execution.
- Enforce GMI safety standards and OSHA compliance while partnering with the Safety Director to proactively address jobsite risks.
- Oversee quality control to ensure work meets contract documents and company standards.
- Monitor schedules and sequencing to maintain on-time delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with General Contractors and project stakeholders.
- Identify potential problems early and take swift corrective action.
- Ensure all documentation, closeout requirements, and contract obligations are properly completed.
- Strong construction experience in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, and exterior cladding trades.
- OSHA 30-hour certification (completed or enrolled).
- Proven understanding of construction safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and fiscal management principles.
- Experience negotiating vendor pricing, change orders, and contract scopes.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
- Ability to perform site inspections and approve installations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC-based systems.
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across departments.
