Overview
We’re Hiring:
Assistant Project Manager. The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in overseeing assigned construction projects from turnover through closeout. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with GMI’s quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, performance-driven, and capable of coordinating field and office efforts to maximize project results and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in managing projects from initial setup through closeout, including buyout, submittals, documentation, and financial tracking.
- Support contract review, write and issue purchase orders, process change orders, and route invoices for payment.
- Help manage project budgets, including labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Monitor job progress, track percent complete, and provide updates on schedule and cost performance.
- Prepare Schedule of Values (SOV) and monthly billings.
- Assist in pricing and processing project changes.
- Coordinate daily project activities with General Contractors, field teams, and suppliers.
- Create and manage material stocking and handling plans.
- Develop and maintain manpower loading schedules to align with contract dates.
- Conduct weekly progress walks to verify percent complete and project status.
- Work closely with Superintendents and Foremen to maximize jobsite performance.
- Ensure all assigned projects comply with GMI safety standards and contractual requirements.
- Attend and participate in project meetings with internal teams and General Contractors.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Strong construction experience, specifically in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, and exterior cladding.
- OSHA 30-hour certification (completed or in progress).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Understanding of architectural design principles and building components.
- Strong budgeting, planning, and organizational skills.
- Results-oriented with a strong sense of accountability.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with field leadership and office teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
