Lead Access Control Technician – Security Systems | Dallas, TX
Earn $25–$35/hr, enjoy weekly pay, benefits, and steady work. Work as a Lead Access Control Technician installing and supporting security systems in commercial facilities such as schools, hospitals, offices and warehouses throughout Dallas‑Fort Worth.
Responsibilities- Lead the installation, troubleshooting, servicing, and commissioning of commercial access control and security systems.
- Program, configure, and support Lenel, Brivo, and Genetec access control platforms.
- Install and troubleshoot door hardware, including mag locks, electric strikes, request‑to‑exit devices, door contacts, transfer hinges, and card readers.
- Install, service, and troubleshoot CCTV systems.
- Read and interpret access control, CCTV, and low voltage blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Coordinate with project managers and lead technicians to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and customer turnover.
- Troubleshoot wiring issues, power failures, lock failures, relay issues, and communication problems between field devices and controllers.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Work safely on ladders and lifts while following all job site safety requirements.
- Install and support low voltage systems at schools, hospitals, offices, warehouses, and other commercial facilities.
- 5+ years of commercial access control installation experience.
- Previous experience leading crews on commercial security projects.
- Current certifications in Lenel, Brivo, and Genetec are required.
- Experience working in schools, hospitals, and other commercial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of telecom and data networks.
- Experience programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting enterprise access control systems.
- Comfortable using a multimeter to diagnose power, voltage, continuity, and device issues in the field.
- Solid understanding of relays and how they function within access control and security systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and identify wiring issues, power failures, lock failures, relay issues, and communication problems between field devices and access control panels/controllers.
- BICSI, Lift, OSHA, and other manufacturer certifications are a plus.
- Must have basic hand tools and PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hi‑vis vest, and steel‑toe boots).
- Willingness to travel to job sites throughout the Dallas‑Fort Worth Metroplex as needed.
