Worship Pastor Role Overview

Southside Baptist Church is seeking a passionate Worship Pastor to lead our congregation in authentic, Christ-centered worship. This role goes beyond music—it is about cultivating a worship culture where people encounter God, grow spiritually, and actively participate in worship. The Worship Pastor will lead, develop, and shepherd a thriving music ministry while working closely with pastoral leadership to shape meaningful, engaging services that point people to Jesus.

• A growing, mature believer with a genuine love for Christ and people.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills to build and guide a healthy worship ministry.
• Musical ability (vocally and/or instrumentally) with a heart for excellence in worship.
• A shepherd’s heart with the ability to encourage, disciple, and care for team members.
• A gift for administration and planning within ministry environments.
• Experience in worship ministry is preferred but calling and character matter most.

• Lead & Develop:
  Lead the congregation in worship and invest in musicians, vocalists, and choir members, equipping them to grow spiritually and musically.
• Inspire & Grow:
  Build and strengthen the choir and worship teams, recruit new volunteers, and foster consistent engagement in worship.
• Plan & Collaborate:
  Work alongside the pastor to plan services and special events. Coordinate rehearsals and ensure all elements are prepared with excellence. Maintain music licensing (CCLI).
• Engage & Shepherd:
  Minister to the church family through worship, outreach, and pastoral care, especially to those who are hurting, hospitalized, or homebound.
• Oversee & Innovate:
  Lead the overall direction of the worship ministry, including scheduling, budgeting, and working with the A/V team to improve technology and worship experience.
• Celebrate Key Moments:
  Assist in planning and leading worship for weddings, funerals, Vacation Bible School, and other special church events.
• Driven by Team Vision:
  Serve alongside the pastoral staff and fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor to advance the mission of Southside Baptist Church.
