Field Service Technician - Telecom Infrastructure

Our client, a rapidly expanding telecommunications company, is actively seeking dedicated and technically proficient Field Service Technicians for a fully remote, customer-facing role. This position is crucial for maintaining and deploying the essential telecom infrastructure that keeps our communities connected across the greater Soweto region and beyond. You will be responsible for on-site installations, maintenance, and repairs of various telecommunication equipment, including fiber optic networks, wireless access points, and customer premise equipment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, possesses excellent troubleshooting skills, and is committed to delivering high-quality service. This role offers the unique advantage of working from your home base, managing your schedule, and traveling directly to customer locations or sites as required, without the need for a central office commute.

• Install, commission, and maintain telecommunications equipment at customer sites and network infrastructure locations.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on a wide range of telecom hardware and software issues.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal network performance and reliability.
• Respond to service calls and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures during all site visits.
• Document all service activities, including installations, repairs, and maintenance, accurately in the company's system.
• Provide basic customer training and support on installed equipment.
• Manage inventory of parts and equipment for service calls effectively.
• Communicate technical issues and resolutions clearly with the support team and management.

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in telecommunications or electronics is preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a field service technician or in a similar technical role within the telecommunications industry.
• Solid understanding of telecommunications principles, including fiber optics, DSL, and wireless technologies.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
