This is a traditional counseling position to work with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, providing academic support and assistance with personal issues. Take an active part in the overall life of the school through classroom visits, involvement in activities/athletics, and attendance at events, master schedule development.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid and appropriate ESA certificate for Washington State required.
- Demonstrated desire and ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Counseling experience at the junior high school level preferred.
- Experience with 504 and Becca Bill.
- Successful experience in dealing with at-risk and special needs students.
- Ability to work cooperatively in team settings as part of MDT and administrative team.
- Successful experiences working with ethnically diverse, culturally diverse and economically diverse student population.
- Ability to understand program development and curriculum.
- Understanding of emotional, social, and physical needs of junior high school students.
- Vocational/career counseling experience/knowledge preferable.
- Training and experience in classroom management techniques preferable.
