Position Hours and Pay
This position is for 6.5 hours per day over 178 days per year. The director may adjust to 7 hours per day for 4 days during the first year, and 2 days each year thereafter, until certification is completed.
Position pay: PSE Salary Schedule Level 5 – $24.76 (25‑26 PSE Salary Schedule).

Job DescriptionThis position’s responsibilities are to assist teacher(s) and student(s) in Multilingual Education (MLE) programs with instructional and non‑instructional activities. Responsibilities include small‑group instruction, one‑on‑one instruction, preparing materials for lessons, teaming, collaboration between general‑education and special‑education staff, and assisting with testing students for program eligibility.
Essential FunctionsReports to the school principal or administrator and receives guidance from assigned certificated staff.
Mental DemandsRequires dealing with a wide range of student behaviors and academic abilities, and communicating with students who have widely diverse language and cultural backgrounds.
Physical DemandsPotential exposure to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students and exposure to student noise levels.
Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience
Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out the assignment; one (1) year of experience working with school‑age children, non‑English‑speaking people, and diverse cultures required. Experience in a school setting desirable; instructional experience strongly preferred; training or experience in MLE instruction strongly preferred.

- Knowledge of basic subject areas such as spelling, writing, reading, and math; skill in proper English usage.

- Ability to work effectively with students at a variety of grade and skill levels.
- Ability to deal with students in a warm and confident manner.
- Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations.
- Ability to organize activities.
- Ability to be fair and consistent when working with students.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents.
