We are seeking a motivated and self‑directed Safety Specialist to lead all aspects of workplace safety for our manufacturing operation. This position serves as the primary safety resource for the company and is fully responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs, policies, training, and compliance initiatives throughout the facility.
This role is ideal for a hands‑on safety professional who is comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced industrial environment and partnering directly with management, supervisors, and employees to maintain a strong culture of safety and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, review, and update company safety policies, procedures, and programs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA/WISHA regulations and applicable safety standards
- Lead and manage Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space entry programs, including employee training, audits, permitting, and compliance oversight
- Conduct routine facility safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action follow‑up
- Create and conduct employee safety training programs, orientations, and refresher trainings
- Maintain safety documentation including training records, SDS files, OSHA logs, and compliance reports
- Serve as the company’s primary point of contact for safety‑related matters and regulatory inspections
- Work closely with supervisors and maintenance personnel to identify risks and implement corrective actions
- Monitor workplace conditions and recommend improvements to reduce injuries and improve overall safety performance
- Coordinate safety meetings and support ongoing safety culture initiatives
Stay current on OSHA/WISHA regulations and industry best practices
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, or production environments
- Extensive hands‑on experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, hazardous energy control, and confined space entry programs
- Thorough working knowledge of OSHA/WISHA regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience developing safety policies and conducting employee training
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Experience conducting compliance audits and regulatory reporting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
- Experience in wood products, veneer, plywood, lumber, or similar manufacturing industries.
- OSHA 30 certification
- First Aid/CPR Instructor certification
