Job Description

The High School Family and Consumer Science Teacher is assigned to deliver a comprehensive family and consumer science program in accordance with state law and Utah Board of Education policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

To implement, evaluate and improve the program of study to which the teacher is assigned.
To foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
To utilize instructional management systems models that increase student learning.
To monitor student progress toward mastery of instructional goals and objectives.
To communicate effectively with parents/guardians on a regular basis.
Inventory equipment and maintain proper condition and storage of equipment.
Participate in parent/student conferences.
Help identify and refer for screening and evaluation any child who has learning deficiencies.
To complete duty assignments as designated by the principal.
To supervise students at all times in accordance with state and school policies.
To attend all faculty and other required meetings.
To fulfill annual continuing education requirements and attend other required training programs.
To take student attendance.
To accept reasonable extra assignments necessary for a successful school program.
To maintain professional work habits.
To perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, & the public.

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone;

physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
