Job Information
Math Instructional Technician – Lane 1 – $17.35 per hour, 3.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, 177 days per year. No benefits. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
Placement on the salary schedule will be reviewed by a supervisor and finalized through the Human Resources and Payroll Departments.
Candidates already employed with Nebo School District, applying for a new position with a lane increase, may decrease in overall steps in the new position if offered, accepted, and not in the same job category.
Job-related experience is desired.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background clearance required.
Purpose StatementThe job of a Math Instructional Technician is to improve students' success in basic academics such as reading, language, and/or math; relieve teachers of clerical tasks; assist students by modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments.
This job reports to the Building Principal.
Essential Functions- Administers tests (e.g., monitoring, correcting) to assist the teacher in evaluating students' progress.
- Administers student evaluation and progress assessments to provide information for teachers to determine the need for further individualized assessment and instruction.
- Confers with teachers and other school personnel to assist in the evaluation of student's progress and/or implementation of students' objectives.
- Implements instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g., reading, math, language, comprehension, writing, computer) to assist the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.
- Implements classroom materials under the direction of the teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives.
- Monitors individuals and/or groups of students to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participates in in-service workshops and training to receive and/or convey information related to job functions.
- Provides direct instructional services to individuals and/or small groups under the supervision of the assigned classroom teacher to implement goals for remediation of math, language, and reading deficits and ensure student success.
- Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights) to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

- SKILLS
:
Adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment including computers and software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records. - KNOWLEDGE
:
Basic math calculations; understanding written procedures; writing routine documents; speaking clearly; understanding multi-step written and oral instructions; concepts of grammar and punctuation; age-appropriate activities; health and safety standards. - ABILITY
:
Scheduling activities; collating data; using basic job-related equipment; flexibility to work with others; problem-solving to identify issues and select action plans; adapting to changing priorities; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; reliable attendance.
Working under immediate supervision; providing information and advising others; operating within a defined budget; utilizing resources from other work units as needed.
Working EnvironmentThe role requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Roughly 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing. The environment is generally hazard-free.
