Job Information

Instructional Technician – Lane 1 – $17.35 per hour, 4.6 hours per day, 4 days per week, 177 days per year. No benefits. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Includes 35 minutes per day of Student Supervision paid at Lane
1. Total hours worked per week will be 18.4.

Job-related experience is desired.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background clearance required.

The job of an Instructional Technician is to improve students' success in basic academics (e.g., reading, language, and/or math); relieve teachers of clerical tasks; and assist students by modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments. This position reports to the Building Principal.

• Administers tests for assisting the teacher in evaluating students' progress.
• Administers student evaluation and progress assessments to provide information for teachers.
• Collates with teachers and other school personnel to assist in evaluating students' progress and implementing objectives.
• Implements instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g., reading, math, language, comprehension, writing, computer) to improve students' academic success.
• Implements classroom materials under teacher direction to support classroom objectives.
• Monitors individuals and groups of students to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Participates in in-service workshops and training to receive or convey relevant information.
• Provides direct instructional services to individuals or small groups under the teacher's supervision (e.g., reading, math, self-esteem, behavioral skills, early childhood activities).
• Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights) to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.

To be considered highly qualified under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), applicants may take the Title I Paraprofessionals Test or have 2 years of college (48 semester hours) or an Associate Degree. Proof of degree or transcript must be attached to the application.

• SKILLS: Adherence to safety practices, operation of standard office equipment including computers and relevant software, and accurate record‑keeping.
• KNOWLEDGE: Basic math, written procedures, routine document creation, and multi‑step written and oral instruction. Includes grammar, punctuation, age‑appropriate activities, and health and safety standards.
• ABILITY: Scheduling activities, collating data, operating job‑related equipment, working with others, problem‑solving with data, maintaining confidentiality, and working reliably in a team with frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities include working under immediate supervision, providing information and advising others, and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required.

The job requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; and fine finger dexterity. Estimated physical demands: 40% sitting, 30% walking, 30% standing. The environment is generally hazard‑free.
