Structural Engineer, Civil Engineering
As a Structural Project Engineer (PE) at Atlas, you are the technical anchor for project teams: you guide design decisions, mentor EITs and students, support client communication, and help position our work for repeat business. This role is primarily a technical lead today, with a clear path into broader leadership as the firm continues to grow.
Responsibilities· Perform and oversee structural analysis, design, and calculations for building and site structures.
· Review and stamp (as appropriate) structural drawings and details for quality and code compliance.
· Provide QA/QC review of work prepared by EITs, students, and drafting/BIM staff.
· Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and contractors to resolve design and constructability issues.
· Support construction administration, respond to RFIs, and review submittals as needed.
· Help keep projects on track with respect to scope, schedule, and budgeted hours.
· Actively mentor and train junior engineers and student staff in both technical skills and professional habits.
Qualifications· Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in a relevant jurisdiction (or ability to obtain in Utah)
· 4+ years of structural engineering experience in buildings or related structures
· Strong technical proficiency in structural design (steel, concrete, wood, and/or masonry)
· Experience preparing and reviewing structural plans, details, and calculations
· Ability to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and internal teams—verbally and in writing
· Interest and comfort in participating in business development activities (client meetings, proposals, relationship building)
· Proven ability to collaborate, give and receive feedback, and help train/mentor junior staff
· Positive, low-ego, team-first mindset aligned with a fun, high‑energy, growth culture
· Serve as technical lead on assigned structural projects, from concept through construction.
