Experienced Equipment Operator

Arise Excavating is looking for an experienced Equipment Operator to join our growing team. We’re seeking a motivated, dependable individual with residential excavation experience who wants to grow with our company.

• Minimum of 2 years of residential excavation experience
• Experience with basement excavations
• Experience with back filling and compaction
• Experience with concrete grading
• Experience with installation of sewer, water, and power utilities
• Ability to efficiently operate an excavator
• Ability to efficiently operate a mini excavator
• Ability to efficiently operate a skid steer
• Ability to efficiently operate a wheel loader
• Ability to set grades and use a laser level accurately

We primarily work throughout Salt Lake County, Utah County, and Wasatch County.

$27–$35 per hour, depending on experience (DOE).

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, backhoes, and loaders safely and efficiently.
• Perform residential site preparation, including clearing, grading, and excavation for new home construction.
• Excavate for foundations, basements, crawl spaces, footings, and retaining walls according to site plans and specifications.
• Dig trenches for utility installation, including water, sewer, electrical, and drainage systems.
• Grade lots to ensure proper drainage and prepare surfaces for concrete, landscaping, and final site work.
• Load, move, and stockpile soil, gravel, and other construction materials.
• Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and utility markings.
• Identify and avoid underground utilities while following safe digging practices.
• Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, including fueling, greasing, and cleaning.
• Work closely with foremen, laborers, surveyors, and utility crews to complete projects on schedule.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following company policies and applicable safety regulations.
• Operate equipment in confined residential neighborhoods while minimizing damage to surrounding property.
• Assist with erosion control measures and site cleanup as needed.
• Accurately complete daily work logs, equipment inspection reports, and production records.

• Speak fluent English.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Have reliable personal transportation.
• Be able to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Preferred: CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).
• Preferred:
  Bilingual in English and Spanish.
