Assistant Principal

Job Goal:
To serve as an instructional and administrative leader of the school, to work with staff, students and community to ensure a high-quality educational program, and to formulate and accomplish the school's mission.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in educational administration or school leadership.
- Valid Alabama certificate in Educational Leadership, administration, and/or supervision.
- Three (3) years successful experience as a classroom teacher.
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. .
- Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of modern education and ability to apply them to the needs of the school.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current curriculum and instructional practices and trends.
- Ability to plan and organize effectively.
- Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others.
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, including, but not limited to, students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of school law, Board policies, and school system regulations.
- Demonstrated skill in recruitment, selection, induction and assignment of personnel.
- Successful previous experience in maintaining effective discipline.
- Ability to plan and conduct faculty meetings.
- Physical mobility, dexterity, strength and visual acuity to meet student needs, deal with student problems and address building maintenance problems and school ground monitoring activities.
- Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.
- Ability to use and facilitate the use of technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
