Plant Controller II – Plant Finance Lead
Responsibilities- Provide accurate reporting of results and maintain company assets through balance sheet integrity and a rigorous control environment.
- Foster a strong control environment, ensure Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance, and improve control deficiencies.
- Lead cross‑functional control and efficiency initiatives with central accounting.
- Manage the complete month‑end close, plant accounting operations, reporting, and financial statements.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget, coordinate and update forecasts.
- Analyze plant operation results, evaluate variances, and assess impacts.
- Monitor financial performance to identify and drive cost reductions.
- Serve as project manager on cost‑reduction initiatives with engineers, procurement, and plant operators.
- Coordinate with operations to prepare business cases for capital investments.
- Act as a strong example of integrity and “Doing the Right Thing.”
- Negotiate with key vendors directly or via procurement.
- Provide daily, weekly, monthly reports to plant and corporate management.
- Supply management with strategic tools and reports to drive business results.
- Manage plant performance on improvement goals and KPIs.
- Drive operational improvements—including development, implementation, and maintenance.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of 2‑5 Cost Accountants, Buyers, and/or Clerks.
- Delegate day‑to‑day accounting activities to appropriately delegated staff.
- Provide effective leadership and career development for staff.
- Train staff to ensure proper collection, calculation, and reporting of cost, production, inventory, and other financial information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- MBA or Master’s in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
- Minimum eight years of manufacturing or cost accounting experience.
- ERP systems experience required; SAP preferred.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Exceptional knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes‑Oxley.
- Proven ability to manage a general ledger, drive efficiencies, and maintain accurate books.
- Strong multi‑tasking skills, deadline management, problem‑solving, pressure tolerance, and sound judgment.
- Experience compiling annual operating plans, budgets, and applying forecasting techniques.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel (including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP), PowerPoint, Outlook, and other financial software.
- Experience with process improvements and cost‑saving plans.
- Deep knowledge of financial and cost accounting processes in a manufacturing environment, including inventory and project costing.
- Leadership experience guiding direct reports to achieve performance goals.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Results‑oriented, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely delivery.
- Teamwork and collaboration expertise in project‑oriented activities.
- Ability to communicate cost and financial information to all levels.
- Business acumen to gain trust and credibility across the organization.
- Manufacturing “shop‑floor” experience (not limited to assembly).
- Extensive experience managing fixed assets and capital projects.
- Track record directing external resources for effective execution.
Estimated salary range: $170,000 – $200,000, dependent on experience, skills, geography, and internal equity. Eligible for a bonus plan.
