Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Sheriff Support Specialist provides administrative and operational support to the public and law enforcement personnel. Responsibilities include assisting with civil paperwork, fingerprinting, temporary protective orders, and other related services. Assignments will be within the Detention Facility, and may require shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Distinguishing CharacteristicsThis position serves as a key liaison between the public and the Sheriff’s Office. It requires strong administrative, customer service, and communication skills, along with the ability to work in both front-facing and secure environments. While not a sworn role, the position contributes directly to public safety and law enforcement operations.
Licensing, Education, & Other Requirements- Any combination of training, education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to gain the required knowledge and ability is:
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency; and
- Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience working in an administrative, customer service, or law enforcement support setting.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada driver license.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background investigation.
- Experience working with law enforcement agencies or detention/civil legal setting preferred.
- Military experience applicable to the duties of the position may be preferred.
