Job DescriptionManages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group to include operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
Implements established estimating policies in in assigned region, area or group to meet overall corporate objectives.
Works with project managers to provide administrative and technical assistance in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
Supervises the preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends appropriate changes to database.
Assists region leadership by reviewing project details and provides recommendations, and collaboratively determines strategies, techniques, and resources needed.
Provides close coordination and oversight with design discipline leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
Ensures standardized use of approved estimating systems, maintenance and enhances of the cost database estimating system.
Maintains all historical data for estimating man‑hours for various types of estimates (i.e.
hard bid, design/build, construction management at risk, opinions of probable construction cost, etc.) and bid results by project.
Reviews all final estimate and proposal packages to ensure accuracy and completeness for formal quotation and presentation.
Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
Performs additional duties as required.
Knowledge of how corporate objectives impact estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts. Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing. Reads and comprehends drawings and specifications and identify missing elements during design development. Ability to perform conceptual estimates in multiple trades and review estimates in many trades. Strong ability to estimate many types of projects/contracts. Excellent multi‑tasking skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
Strong personal computer and Estimating and On‑Screen digitizing software skills. Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proven decision making and problem solving skills.
High School diploma or equivalent. 10 years of related experience with at least 3 of those years in a supervisory or management capacity. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
