What To Expect The Semi Manufacturing Resources Group is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to develop and deploy automated equipment at Tesla’s world‑class facilities. Manufacturing Development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges of our products. This role requires a hands‑on engineer to work closely with product, manufacturing, quality, and factory teams to take new designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.

- Own projects through their entire lifecycle, from initial concept generation through assembly and production bring‑up
- Establish equipment requirements and develop line design concepts
- Determine optimal layout of production workstations for product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency
- Work closely with product design team and provide feedback on design for manufacturability
- Develop specifications and manage procurement process of new equipment
- Create detailed project schedules and provide updates to program stakeholders
- Act as central project manager and continually monitor progress of all project inputs
- Coordinate the assembly, validation, and final equipment buy‑off
- 5+ years of experience as a hands‑on mechanical, manufacturing, or design engineer working on manufacturing systems
- Experience creating technical specifications for automated equipment
- Experience introducing new products and new processes from a prototype environment to production
- Experience with various manufacturing processes (assembly, fastening, dispensing, laser welding, electrical testing)
- Experience designing production line layouts in AutoCAD
- Proficiency designing mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling in Solid Works
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
