What To Expect
Technicians are a critical part of the EHS team orting to the IH lead, you will assist with Industrial Hygiene initiatives, projects and day‑to‑day internal consulting for the local EHS team and Production/Manufacturing engineering. In this role, you will provide direct support to the site Industrial Hygienist, EHS Specialists, EHS Management and Production/Manufacturing partners. You will assist with sampling needs, employee health risk assessments, risk reduction initiatives, IH related Take Charges and improving compliance/participation ratios of Medical Surveillance Programs (RPP, HCP, etc.).
WhatYou'll Do
- Conduct routine and specialized industrial hygiene sampling, including personal and area air monitoring, noise dosimetry and surface sampling under lead IH guidance
- Assist with performing Health Risk Assessments and developing chemical hazard communication one‑pagers for shops
- Accurately record field notes, observations and sampling data, perform data entry into EHS repositories and prepare samples for shipment to accredited analytical laboratories with proper chain‑of‑custody documentation
- Assist in drafting technical reports, exposure assessments and summary data tables for review by senior EHS staff
- Perform ventilation surveys, sound surveys and indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments
- Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of industrial hygiene testing equipment (e.g., photoionization detectors, sound level meters, pumps and direct‑reading instruments)
- Maintain an accurate inventory of sampling media, calibration gases and equipment maintenance logs
- Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or Environmental preferred, or equivalent experience
- Work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred with basic understanding of general manufacturing safety and hazard recognition
- Advanced computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Well organized, excellent attention to detail and a passion for all things Environment, Health and Safety
- Evidence of exceptional ability:
Clear communication, teamwork, problem solving skills and ability to adapt quickly to changes - Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and ability to stand and/or walk for 10+ hours daily
