Job Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Data Center Engineering Technician, responsible for maintaining mission‑critical technology infrastructure worldwide. Your work will help ensure an extraordinary 99.999% uptime for our global cloud services.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) relies on these technicians to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems, including generators, UPS, PDU, and CRAC units, as well as fire/life safety equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability and availability.
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
- Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning within internal SLA.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Produce technical documentation to support the change management program.
- Manage daily work requests to resolution and execute projects from conception to completion.
- Provide on‑site support of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
Physical Requirements
Work schedule may involve up to 12‑hour shifts, rotating schedules, and on‑call rotations. This role may support more than one location.
Physical requirements include regularly lifting up to 39 lb, group lifts for 40+ lb, ladder work, walking, reaching, kneeling, and other tasks. Ear protection may be required.
Essential Requirements- Willingness to travel or commute between data center locations.
- Flexibility to work at alternative sites during training periods or until the assigned facility becomes operational.
- Ability to travel (over 50 mi) or commute (less than 50 mi) to active data center sites as required by business needs.
- 1+ year of electrical or mechanical experience.
- 1+ year of experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and/or weekends.
- 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
- Technical (Military/Trade School) training.
- Associate or higher education in a related field.
