Praetorian Power Protection, the leader in NETA testing and staff augmentation to the mission critical industry, is seeking a veteran Mechanical Commissioning Superintendent to lead the testing and integration of complex HVAC and cooling systems within mission‑critical data center environments. The role will ensure that high‑density cooling infrastructure—from chilled water plants to liquid cooling systems—is validated, optimized, and ready for 100% uptime.
Key Responsibilities- Commissioning Leadership:
Oversee the full commissioning lifecycle (L1–L5) focused on Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MPF) systems. - System Validation:
Direct functional performance testing (FPT) of CRAHs/CRACs, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and AHUs. - Load Bank Testing:
Lead integrated systems testing (IST) using load banks to simulate server heat loads and verify cooling redundancy. - BMS Coordination:
Collaborate with controls technicians to validate Building Management System (BMS) sequences of operation and alarm notifications. - Technical Review:
Analyze P&IDs, sequences of operation, and mechanical specifications to identify potential points of failure before site mobilization. - Issue Resolution:
Manage the mechanical punch list and work closely with mechanical contractors to resolve deficiencies and perform re‑testing. - Electrical Commissioning:
Direct Level 1‑through 5 commissioning for low‑voltage systems including UPS, switch gear, PDU/RPP, and EPMS/BMS integrations. Review design drawings for buildability and redundancy (N+1, 2N). - Electrical Safety:
Enforce NFPA 70E standards and electrical safety protocols during energized testing. - Documentation:
Author and execute commissioning scripts, produce final reports, and maintain punch‑list tracking. - Project Coordination:
Act as primary liaison between client, MEP contractors, and vendors to maintain schedule and resolve technical roadblocks.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical commissioning, HVAC field engineering, or project management within data center or mission‑critical facilities.
- Direct experience in data center construction or commissioning.
- Deep technical knowledge of chilled water systems, DX and evaporative cooling, piping infrastructure, and low‑voltage systems (fire alarm, security, controls).
- Strong understanding of OSHA standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and FCC 70E electrical safety.
- Proficiency in commissioning scripts and report documentation.
- Experience with liquid cooling or rear‑door heat exchangers (RDHx) in high‑density environments.
- Certification from ACG, NEBB, or BCxA (CCP).
- Proficiency in Bluebeam and commissioning management software (e.g., CxAlloy, Procore).
- OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Safety certification.
- Exceptional communication skills to translate complex technical issues for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership with a boots‑on‑the‑ground approach to problem‑solving.
- 5x10 schedule (last 10 hours overtime).
- 7 days per week per diem.
- 11 holidays with floating holiday.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- PTO.
- Additional benefits.
