Manufacturing Engineering Technician, Battery Development

What to Expect

Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to contribute to the development and deployment of specialized processes and equipment for our cutting-edge Battery products. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles - battery cost and performance. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.

What You'll Do

* Regularly collaborate with Design and Manufacturing engineers

* Support development and optimization of manufacturing processes, quality controls and equipment specifications

* Support the installation and commissioning of electromechanical equipment

* Help develop training material, and train key personnel

* Support process and equipment validation, utilizing metrology, destructive, and non-destructive testing

* Help develop test criteria and collaborate on test fixture designs

* Maintain & pursue development equipment and facilities that are on the forefront of battery manufacturing technologies

What You'll Bring

* 2+ years' work experience in a similar technical role

* Able to travel up to 30% in role

* Experience in high-volume manufacturing, transitioning complex products from prototype to production

* Proficient with hand-tools and fixture assembly

* Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally

* Experience in creating documentation and technical reports

* Understanding of electronic circuits and systems, conductors, isolators, dielectric materials, is a plus

* Experience with or exposure to CAD software 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Solid Works, CATIA) CAD is a plus

* Experience with conventional machining and other fabrication processes, 3D printing experience is a plus
