Manufacturing Engineer II

RIX INDUSTRIES is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to join our Engineering & Design team. In this role, you will support the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for innovative engineered products used in commercial, industrial, and government applications. You will translate prototype designs into repeatable, cost-effective production, improve quality and throughput, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with mechanical design engineers to translate product concepts into manufacturable designs.
• Design, build, and refine mechanical prototypes for new products, validating performance, form, fit, and function.
• Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes, including process flow, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.

• D CAD models and engineering drawings, including dimensioning, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
• Specify, design, and implement production tooling, jigs, and fixtures to improve quality, safety, and throughput.
• Support new product introduction (NPI), including prototype builds, pilot runs, and transition to full-rate production.
• Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, defects, and waste; implement process improvements using Lean and Six Sigma tools.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) for quality or process issues.
• Support engineering change management, ensuring updates are correctly implemented in documentation and on the production floor.
• Collaborate with quality, supply chain, and operations to ensure parts, materials, and processes meet specifications and reliability requirements.
• Provide hands-on support on the shop floor to troubleshoot issues, train production staff, and ensure adherence to processes and safety standards.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement by proposing and implementing new tools, methods, and technologies.

• Mechanical design and engineering fundamentals
• Design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA)
• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Prototype design, build, and testing for mechanical systems
• Process development and optimization in a manufacturing environment
• Lean manufacturing principles and basic Six Sigma tools
• Root cause analysis and problem-solving (e.g., 5-Why, fishbone, FMEA)
• Technical documentation and creation of work instructions/SOPs
• Basic understanding of machining, fabrication, assembly, and test processes
• Data analysis for production metrics and continuous improvement initiatives
• Cross-functional collaboration and communication with design, quality, and operations teams
