RIX Industries is seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer to design, program, and support control systems for advanced gas generation, storage, and compression equipment in a manufacturing environment. You will develop PLC and HMI/SCADA code, specify instrumentation, and create control architectures that ensure safety, reliability, and performance in demanding defense, energy, and industrial applications. Collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and test teams, you'll support commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automated equipment while upholding strict quality and safety standards in a fast-paced, mission-driven culture.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA-based control systems for gas generation and compression equipment
- Create control system architectures, I/O lists, and functional specifications
- Select and integrate instrumentation, sensors, and actuators into automated systems
- Develop and maintain control system documentation, including P&IDs and electrical schematics
- Support factory and field commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of equipment
- Implement safety interlocks and comply with relevant industry and electrical standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to meet performance, cost, and schedule goals
- Continuously improve control strategies for reliability, maintainability, and efficiency
- Provide technical support and training to production, test, and service teams
- Contribute to innovation and new product development for mission-critical applications
Required Skills
- PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, or similar)
- HMI/SCADA configuration
- Industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
- Control system architecture and design
- P& electrical schematic reading
- Instrumentation and sensor integration
- Motion control and VFD configuration
- Control panel design and NFPA/UL standards
- Safety systems (SIL, interlocks, safety PLCs)
- Troubleshooting and commissioning of automated systems
