Position SummaryThis Medical Office Specialist opportunity is full‑time, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule. Medical Office Specialists are health‑care professionals who work at the front desk or office area of a healthcare provider’s clinic to manage communications with patients, insurers, and medical staff. They must have the ability to communicate and interact well with patients, providers, and co‑workers.
Responsibilities- Fulfills patient care responsibilities such as checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
- Fulfills clerical responsibilities such as sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x‑ray reports, hospital notes, referral information; completing forms/requisitions; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing charts to ensure information is complete and accurate; managing end‑of‑day cash balancing and charge reconciliation processes.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant preferred;
Medical Office Specialist experience preferred. - Familiarity with medical terminology required.
- Experience with patient check‑in and check‑out process (according to clinic protocol) required.
- General medical office procedures knowledge required.
- Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office, required.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
