Position: SPEECH THERAPIST, FLOAT POSITION, Per Diem

Responsibilities

This Speech Therapist opportunity is per diem and offers a convenient flexible schedule. The dynamic individual will be responsible for administration and direct application of speech/language pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a referring physician. They will evaluate, plan, direct, and treat all patients referred for speech/language pathology to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury. The therapist will assist patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society while learning to live a routine normal life within the constraints of their disability.

They will participate in performance improvement activities within the department and engage in CQI activities. The therapist will assure personal competency, provide information related to departmental budget considerations for optimal patient care, assist in scheduling patient visits for evaluation and treatment, perform administrative duties delegated by the director of rehabilitation services, and participate in infection control, safety, and educational programs both in the department and on an organizational basis.

Job Duties /Responsibilities
  • Upon physician referral, perform patient evaluations to determine problems and goals.
  • Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation – makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Formulate a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning, including family as appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Holds a master’s degree from an approved college or school of speech/language pathology.
  • Current State Licensure in Speech Pathology (as Speech Pathologist).
  • Current BLS certification.
