Referral Specialist
The Referral Specialist reviews and coordinates external patient referrals for potential admission to facility programming. Provides accurate evaluation of the facility's capacity and capability to meet the needs of referred patients. Job duties include scheduling referrals for patients, providers, pre-authorizing and pre-certifying tests/procedures, scheduling of other tests with facilities at the request of providers and/or staff, directly communicating with clinics, referred to clinics, and patients, and reviewing clinical data to report medical necessity to insurance companies.
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include a high school graduate or GED, effective communication skills, ability to cover at other clinics as a receptionist as requested, scheduling tests and referral appointments within 24 hours from receiving the physician order, notifying patients within 24 hours of their appointment, pre-certifying appropriate tests with insurance companies within 48 hours of physician order, and other duties as assigned. Minimum of two years' experience in a healthcare or clinical setting is required.
