Position: ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING TECHNICIAN I - 1ST SHIFT (SPARKS, NV)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Independently performs environmental monitoring as written in NOW’s Microbiology Laboratory’s Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Perform routine environmental monitoring of surfaces, water, and air.
  • Performs visual inspection of production workstations for maintenance and sanitation work orders.
  • Collects swab sample for ATP, Allergen, and Pathogen testing.
  • Collects air and water samples for testing.
  • Reports environmental monitoring results for trending.
  • Communicates with other departments regarding corrective actions, out-of-specifications and out-of-trend results.
  • Monitors soap and sanitizer concentration on all sanitation rooms.
  • Complies with Safety and cGMP requirements.

Effectively provides and accepts constructive peer-to-peer feedback on safety performance. Adheres to policies, procedures, SOP’s, safe work practices, and safety policies and procedures. Reports ALL workplace incidents to supervisor immediately. Communicates concerns to supervisor, reports hazards, and provides input on prevention.

Properly uses, wears, and stores Personal Protective Equipment when required. Participates on safety teams and/or completes safety-related activities as part of regular job responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • HS diploma or equivalent and six months experience working in a cGMP environment or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as product specifications, departmental instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals (S.O.P.). Ability to accurately complete paperwork. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Good active listening skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, averages, ratios, proportions, and the metric system to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to compare results to specifications and determine if result meets requirements. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions. Good problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

OTHER

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Computer proficiency, including with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including off shifts and weekends.
