What To Expect
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Manager to lead the Packaging Team in Sparks, NV. This individual will be playing a critical role in managing the team of Packaging Engineers and Program Managers, tasked with ensuring production/packaging interaction pushes for optimization, quickly resolves problems, and continues to develop process efficiencies. Responsibilities include leading and supporting cross‑functional dialogue surrounding packaging projects and priorities, identifying cost‑savings initiatives, and communicating packaging metrics to local leadership teams, and ensuring general packaging team success.
WhatYou'll Do
- Continuously develop a strong, motivated team of Packaging Engineers and Program Managers
- Manage and mentor the Packaging team and assist in prioritization and strategy for packaging projects
- Facilitate communication between Packaging team and cross‑functional teams to present project scope, statuses, cost‑savings results, and key team initiatives
- Partner with Production Control, Production, Process, Safety, and Manufacturing teams to continuously improve packaging‑related inefficiencies for product lines
- Monitor KPIs and work with Packaging Engineers to develop world‑class packaging standards and continue to improve upon them
- Drive expendable to returnable packaging projects, participate in sustainability initiatives
- Manage project budgets, risk, and change management
- 8+ years’ experience in Packaging Engineering in a manufacturing setting
- Previous experience managing engineers
- Working knowledge of CAD, technical drawings, GD&T, and related skills
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, injection molding, etc.
- Strong knowledge in a large variety of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam, etc.)
- Experience with designing to standards such as ASTM, Mil‑Spec, etc.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities at once without sacrificing quality of results
