Job SummaryThe Production Supervisor oversees the daily planning of the manufacturing and/or production activities of a specific area, including assembly, machinery, processing and/or packaging. The Supervisor ensures the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs. Sets production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources and volume required to meet demand and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality.
Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion, coordinates work activities with other supervisors, and receives guidance and oversight from a manager.
- Directly supervises employees in the production process
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
- Interviews, hires, trains employees; plans, assigns, directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems
- Achieves and monitors all Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Financial, Production, Quality, Manpower)
- Creates precise end‑of‑shift reports, root cause analysis documents, and headcount reports
- Monitors and ensures all safety guidelines are followed
- Investigates all safety incidents, finds root causes, and initiates permanent corrective actions
- Performs 5‑WHY, 8‑D, fishbone, and 4M analysis
- Produces a quality product in the production process
- Monitors defect trends and assigns corrective actions to the respective support teams
- Monitors material loss trends and assigns corrective actions to the respective support teams
- Monitors expense trends and applies strict control over consumables such as supplies and tools
- Real‑time monitoring and managing machine downtimes, escalations, and recoveries
- Directs work with other supervisors to coordinate activities in cross‑functional departments
- Troubleshoots and escalates mechanical failures to appropriate support teams
- Leads Kaizen events to improve machine/production conditions
- Participates and supports all Battery Engineering projects
- Participates and supports all Production Engineering projects
- Participates and supports all Quality Control projects
- Reviews line performance and schedules daily asset care
- Revises and/or establishes new work procedures (SOP)
- Manages high‑volume shipping and receiving areas
- Manages inventory control of all process materials
- Controls consumption utilizing FIFO methodologies
- Manages logistics processes such as shipping, receiving and storage
- Understands integrated systems such as SAP, MES, Oracle
- Recommends continuous improvement activities to improve quality and reduce cost
- Interprets company policies and ensures safety and ISM policies are followed
- Consults with Manager and/or Human Resources to resolve employee relation problems for workers he or she supervises
- Provides regular performance feedback for employees
- Completes semi‑annual reviews
