Overview
Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America (PECNA) is collaborating with Tesla Motors, Inc. in the Gigafactory near Reno, Nevada to produce lithium‑ion batteries. This role is a Quality Engineering Technician I in the Quality Operations department.
Responsibilities- Conduct and implement quality control systems for Li‑ion battery manufacturing processes.
- Perform incoming materials quality control in the warehouse for cell production, including inspection of cell parts, battery active materials, and chemical materials for safety and performance.
- Assist in establishing quality control systems in the materials warehouse.
- Analyze and evaluate materials input/output data to reduce defects and improve battery performance.
- Support cell manufacturing process auditing on materials to assure production quality.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Day Shift 1: 6:45 am to 7:15 pm, M/Tu/W/Su & M/Tu/Su.
Location:
Gigafactory near Reno, Nevada.
- Full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and full hazmat suit with respirator may be required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Familiarity with quality management tools (control chart, FTA, FMEA, etc.) and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Practical experience with materials analysis, testing, and chemical analysis equipment.
- 3+ years of quality technician background preferred.
- Associate’s or Junior College degree in science or engineering field.
- Experience using ISO 9001 quality management system auditing.
- Background as a quality technician in high-volume manufacturing desired.
- Extensive data analysis experience (statistical process control of production data).
- Experience in defect reduction of high-volume manufacturing products.
