In this pivotal role, you’ll be the guardian of our data center operations, driving reliability and performance while optimizing operational efficiency across complex technical environments.
the Data Center Facility Manager role acts as Amazon’s front line for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. They maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission‑critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment—stand‑by diesel generators, 3‑phase systems, UPS units, PDUs—and mechanical equipment such as CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors. Additional support includes fire suppression systems, building automation, and general facilities equipment.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure. Ensure that all work performed within the space is done to high quality and without impact to internal or external customers.
- Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their career.
- Engage in improvement projects, often requiring outreach to various support teams, and drive them from conception to completion.
- Coordinate daily with a multitude of third‑party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.
- Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
- Routinely operate as the after‑hour on‑call Data Center Facility Manager for the data centers in the region, responding to issues within the data centers and managing investigation, mitigation, and recovery.
- 2+ years of management or team lead function experience.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical or mechanical systems.
- 3+ years of administrative experience including Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations (e.g., feeders, transformers, generators, switch gear, UPS, ATS, PDU, chillers, pumps, air handling units, CRAC).
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent, or 5+ years of experience working in a data center or other mission‑critical environment with emphasis on building and equipment operation.
- Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in an environment requiring walking, stooping, bending, and climbing to access equipment.
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
Base salary range: USD 117,300 – 171,300 annually (USA, NV, Sparks). Package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
