Military Fellowship Program: Engineering Technician

Overview

SNC’s Military Fellowship Program partners with initiatives such as Skill Bridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on‑the‑job industry training for eligible service members, offering valuable work experience and professional networking as they prepare for full‑time civilian employment. Note that you must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible;

the program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military.

• Conduct advanced assembly and construction of electronic, mechanical, and optical systems.
• Perform in‑depth troubleshooting and repairs on equipment.
• Calibrate and test devices using sophisticated equipment and techniques.
• Document and analyze test results and maintenance activities.
• Provide training and mentorship to Engineering Technician I personnel.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop solutions for technical challenges.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry standards.

• Currently serving as active‑duty military and eligible to participate in the DoD Skill Bridge program.
• Associate’s degree in a related field of study, or equivalent by experience.
• One (1) year of experience as a technician or in a related field; a minimum of three (3) years of related experience can substitute for a degree.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings, diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
• Ability to work with standard laboratory test equipment, other measurement equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Proficiency in electronic, mechanical, or optical systems troubleshooting.

• Previous experience and/or certifications within the aerospace and defense industry.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with AutoCAD or other 3‑D CAD software.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
• Previous supervisory or training experience.
• Advanced understanding of calibration and testing equipment.

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly.
• Ability to be on your feet for much of the work shift.
• Dexterity to handle and assemble small components.
• Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions and loud environments.
• Ability to travel as required.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Non‑U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process.
