POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.
Review project specifications and prepare submittals for various projects in our serviceable areas
Work with the sales department to review project requirements and advise on mix requirements
Preform tests for conformance of concrete on jobsites
Perform air tests for specification compliance for special projects and mixes, and for mix history
Run yield tests for mix compliance
Run moisture tests for plant operators
Casting cylinders to provide history for mix designs and correlation testing on specific jobs
Run moisture tests for plant operators
Run trial batches to verify material performance and compliance and evaluate new sources
Perform trial batches for state approved and special project mix designs
Test aggregates gradations for all plant locations
Update mix design program as needed
May assist other personnel as needed
Responsible for overall review and evaluation of mix designsPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to follow verbal and written instructionA critical thinking mindset, and ability to quickly problem solve
Knowledge of Quality Assurance requirements
Familiarity with aggregate sizes and required quantities
Knowledge of the ready mix and aggregates industryACI Field Technician Certification Must be able to read, write, and speak English Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amountsWORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
May be exposed to crystalline silica/cement dust particles. Long-term and high amounts of unprotected exposure to silica can cause cancer. Cement can cause severe skin burns, eye damage, respiratory irritation and may cause cancer.
Will work outside at plant and job site locations, as well as in on office environment
Will be required to visit projects
There may be physical hazards in which there could be danger to life, health, or other bodily injury such as proximity to moving equipment, mechanical parts, falls, electrocution hazards, environmental hazards, and other hazardsPHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A significant part of this role is in the field on job sites with some lifting of objects in and around construction sites.
At times this includes the delivery and carrying of buckets of materials, moving concrete chutes, shoveling spills and the like that can well exceed 50 pounds. The remainder of the role is sedentary within the office.
